When I install WordDog the WordDog Setup window will not go away.

Please close down Microsoft Word before you install WordDog. Also, if your email program uses Microsoft Word to write and edit your email, you must also close down your email program before you intall WordDog.

If you still have problems, please contact Support.

My document jumps when I start WordDog.

Close WordDog.  Move the WordDog toolbar on to a row occupied by Word's toolbar buttons.  Do not put the WordDog toolbar on a row by itself.

When I start Word, I receive a "Security Warning."

Microsoft Word detects all macros, including the WordDog macro software.  The macro is completely safe and DOES NOT contain a virus.  You can trust Plain English Technologies. To be able to run WordDog:

(1)  Click the "Always trust macros from this source" check box.
(2)  Click the "Enable Macros" button.  Now you can run WordDog, you will not receive the "Security Warning" again. NOTE:  If you upgraded to Word 2003 or Word XP (2002) but you DID NOT buy WordDog v1.1 or later, you will have to change your macro security to Low, otherwise WordDog will not run.   We do not recommend this and suggest you buy the upgrade to WordDog v1.3.

Can I use WordDog to edit my e-mail?

Yes, here are two options.

OPTION 1:
If you have Microsoft Outlook, you can set it up to automatically open Microsoft Word where you can write your emails and take full advantage of all Word's features, even WordDog! In Outlook, open the following:
Tools menu > Options menu > Mail Format tab > Message Format section > check the box that says, “Use Microsoft Word to edit email messages.”

OPTION 2:
(a)  Write your e-mail in Word, then run WordDog.
(b)  Close WordDog.  (c)  Open the "File" menu.   (d)  Click "Send To."  (e)  Click "Mail Recipient."

I received an error message when I installed WordDog, such as "...Move Data Error".

You must close Microsoft Word before you install WordDog.  Close Word, and install WordDog again.  If you still have problems, please contact Support.

When I ran WordDog I received the error message, "Compile error in hidden module: basUtility".

Please contact Support.

Will WordDog run under Microsoft Works, WordPerfect, WordPad, or Notepad?

Sorry.  WordDog runs only under Word 97, Word 2000, and Word 2002 (XP).

When I start Word with WordDog v1.1, I receive a message that tells me the Digital Certificate from Plain English Technologies has expired.

Please contact support@worddog.com for assistance. Note that WordDog is still safe to run but we can provide you with a solution so that you won't receive that message when you start Word.

I can't find the WordDog User Guide.

Click the "Start" button on the Taskbar, normally at the bottom-left of your screen. Click "Programs"; click "WordDog"; click "WordDog User Guide." Warning:   Close WordDog before you open the User Guide, otherwise you will load Microsoft Word again.

I can't find WordDog's sample documents.

Sample1.doc, Sample2.doc, and Sample3.doc are located in the Sample Docs folder. Look under C:\ Programs \ WordDog \ Sample Docs on your hard drive.

I receive an error message when I click on the "Web" button (or the "Buy" button).

This is a problem on some systems, but you have two good options: Close WordDog, then click the globe on the WordDog toolbar.
OR
Close WordDog, then open the "Tools" menu, open "WordDog," then click the globe.

The WordDog toolbar has collapsed or the buttons are displayed one above the other

Put the cursor on the edge of the toolbar, hold down the left mouse button and drag the edge of the toolbar into the shape you want.

I can't find the WordDog toolbar.
To display the toolbar, open the "View" menu, click "Toolbars," click "WordDog."

WordDog has vanished!  WordDog was running fine, but now the WordDog menu and toolbar are missing, and the shortcut key Alt+D doesn't work.

You may have removed WORDDOG.DOT, altered it or turned it off.  WordDog requires this file to run. Open the Tools menu in Word, then open the Templates and Add-Ins dialog box.   WORDDOG.DOT should be listed as a global template.  Make sure the check box next to WORDDOG.DOT is checked. The file WORDDOG.DOT must be located in the Microsoft Office Startup folder.  If you cannot find WORDDOG.DOT, you will have to re-install WordDog.

Words are not added to the Ignored Phrases List.
Check the Ignore Always check box, then click the Ignore All button, not the Ignore button as stated in the WordDog User Guide and on-line Help (applies only to original release).

Is WordDog a grammar checker?
No, but you can set WordDog to automatically run Word's Grammar checker on your document when WordDog closes.

Does WordDog check spelling?
Yes.  You can set WordDog to automatically run Word's Spelling checker before you run WordDog, after you run WordDog, or both.  It's a good idea to Spell Check your document before you run WordDog because WordDog can only find words that are spelled correctly.

WordDog will not run properly on my Apple Mac.
Sorry, WordDog is not available for the Mac versions of Word.
